It’s time for a long, overdue trimming of my life. Like certain branches on a plant that turn black and simply hinder its growth, I have certain relationships and ties that need to be severed. One friend a while back told me that every friendship has an “expiration date”. This may or may not be true, but I definitely believe that when a friendship causes you more stress and pain than happiness, it is time to reevaluate it. That’s not to say that these branches will be ripped off without warning. Some of them are just beginning to brown and I’ll do everything I can to keep them healthy. But relationships, connections, ties, they’re all two-sided. As for those branches that are pitch black now and are slowly bringing me down, it’s time to let them loose. A trimming is definitely what I need as the summer rolls in.
